Frequently asked questions about skin types

How do I find out my skin type?

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, apply nothing and look at your skin after 1 to 2 hours. If it feels tight, it is probably dry; if it is shiny all over, probably oily; if only the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) is shiny, it is combination; if it stays comfortable, it is normal. Our test also looks at sensitivity and dehydration.

What is the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?

Dry skin lacks lipids (oil): it is a skin type. Dehydrated skin lacks water: it is a temporary state that can also affect oily skin, which can then be shiny and tight at the same time.

How many steps does a Korean routine need?

The famous 10-step routine is not compulsory. A cleanser, a moisturiser and a sunscreen are enough to start. Then add a toner, serum or essence as needed. The test suggests an express, essential or full routine.

Which skincare should I avoid during pregnancy?

Retinoids (retinol, retinal) and leave-on salicylic acid are generally avoided. The test removes them automatically if you say you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Always ask your doctor or midwife for advice.
